With The Grain

The second wave of harvest is about to hit, and Farm Rescue is ready to catch it. Many may celebrate the end of summer with surf and sand; our Angels in Blue celebrate it with grain and grit. Long days in the field for them equals money in the bank for farmers and ranchers in crisis.

A farm family in Rolette, North Dakota, was facing a daunting harvest after the sudden passing of their farmer earlier this month. Farm Rescue volunteers have been harvesting since mid-week to take some of the weight off this hurting family’s shoulders.

Farm Rescue sends a huge thank you to Wyffels Hybrids for hosting not one but two events to raise money and awareness for Farm Rescue this week. Dan Buchen, district sales manager for Wyffels, hosted a customer appreciation night that included an auction with proceeds going to Farm Rescue. This is the second year Dan has asked us to be part of the evening and we greatly appreciate his support. There were several volunteers on hand to share their boots on the ground experiences with attendees too.

The second Wyffels event was at Darling Lake and was co-hosted by Sinclair Tractor. Yet again, Farm Rescue was the recipient of the proceeds from the auction that happened that evening. Our Angels in Blue visited with attendees that included two farmers who received a hand up from us in the past.

Called “The World’s Greatest County Fair,” the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa, was the greatest place to share Farm Rescue’s mission. Eight full days of competitions, concerts and carnival rides greatly expanded our ability to spread our message of helping farm and ranch families.

Near our home base in Horace, North Dakota, the city of West Fargo played host to the Big Iron Farm & Construction Show this week. Office Manager Steph Hasbargen, Marketing Program Manager Dan Erdmann, Farm Rescue Board Director Todd Thompson, and two of our friendly volunteers manned the booth throughout this 3-day event. It was a wonderful opportunity to share our mission with attendees, reconnect with families who received support from Farm Rescue, and participate in several media interviews. Special thanks to the Big Iron organizers for sponsoring our exhibit space!

Our heartfelt thanks go to our small but mighty group of volunteers this week including Brian Palmer, John Robertson, Louis Lautenschlager, Albert Lautenschlager, Skip Henton, Jim Rose, Dennis Morgan, Ron Donohue, Terry Willhoit, Scott Williams, Todd Thompson, Darian Snyder, and Chuck Lang.
