Field Reports

That summer feeling

The much-needed rain has brought everything to life here in the Red River Valley. The trees are fully filled out with leaves and crops are gradually emerging. Temps are consistently warming, and with Memorial Day weekend having come and gone, we’re ready to launch into summer time.

This week, our volunteers have been able to get back into the fields as we wind down planting season. In Tuttle, ND, we are helping plant soybeans and wheat for a family who is dealing with the aftermath of the tragic loss of a close family member. In LaMoure, ND, we wrapped up planting for a farmer recovering from shoulder surgery. We’re gearing up to help a farmer in McKenzie, ND plant his crops after a heart attack and triple bypass. We are also preparing to enter into haying season as the first applications are coming through.

As we transition into haying and spraying time, stay safe everyone!

Respectfully,
