HORACE, N.D., February 9, 2024 –Farm Rescue, a nonprofit organization that provides free planting, haying, harvesting, commodity hauling and livestock feeding assistance to farm families who have experienced a major illness, injury or natural disaster, received a generous boost to its operations through Giving Hearts Day.
Giving Hearts Day is an annual fundraising campaign that benefits charitable organizations in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. The 24-hour online day of giving allows individuals to maximize their contributions thanks to matching funds provided by generous donors.
This year’s event was extra special for Farm Rescue, with a commitment from several organizational supporters to match more than $100,000 in contributions received on Giving Hearts Day. Farm Rescue donors raised $278,316.96 for the North Dakota-based nonprofit, far surpassing the organization’s previous Giving Hearts Day record of $92,949.65 set in 2023. This year’s sum was provided by 589 donors from 30 U.S. states and 1 Canadian province, compared to 596 donors from 29 states during last year’s event.
Throughout Farm Rescue’s 2023 operations, nearly 70 families received assistance through planting, haying, harvest and livestock feeding services. With the addition of Illinois in 2023, the organization’s service footprint has now grown to include 8 Midwest states. Farm Rescue also celebrated a monumental service milestone this past year, with its 1,000th farm family served.
All donations received on Giving Hearts Day will be used to continue Farm Rescue’s volunteer-based planting, haying, harvesting, commodity hauling and livestock feeding efforts in 2024, as more rural families realize assistance following unexpected crises.
“A huge Thank You to everyone who participated in supporting our mission on Giving Hearts Day,” said Bill Gross, Founder & President, Farm Rescue. “Your donation has a direct impact on our ability to continue helping farm and ranch families throughout the region. Thank you for being a Farm Rescuer!”
As a whole, this year’s Giving Hearts Day campaign raised over $29 million for around 600 North Dakota and northwest Minnesota charities.
