April Showers…

Despite a relatively early Spring snowmelt by North Dakota standards, it has been a long, slow climb up to warm enough conditions for planting. However, this week, the temperatures have finally hit the mid-upper 60’s, and the well of our local farmers’ pent-up industrious energy has finally found an outlet. Work has begun in earnest, and even the first of the sugar beet fields are being planted. It feels good to get back to work.

Merry Christmas from Farm Rescue

North Dakota has been getting snow for over a month now but one harvest case and one hay hauling case did go on in December. A Garnett, Kansas, farmer needed to be hospitalized for a long-term illness. Farm Rescue was able to get harvest duties squared away so the farmer and his family could concentrate […]
Country Roads, Take Me Home

Fall harvest is winding down for Farm Rescue. Equipment is being cleaned up and made ready for winter storage. A Garnett, Kansas, farmer has been hospitalized due to illness and our Angels in Blue are ready to help, but the area has had several rounds of rain over the last few days. The soil and […]
The Harvest Finish Line

Combines aren’t known for their swiftness, but the harvest season has sped through this fall. Farm Rescue kept the pedal to the metal to be where we could best help farmers and ranchers in crisis. Not literally, because that would be bad, but figuratively. An Enderlin, North Dakota, farm family needed some help with harvest […]
I Spy

I spy with my little eye a group of dedicated volunteers from across the country that are willing to help farm families in crisis. Every week, I am in awe as Farm Rescue’s Angels in Blue harvest the grain, bale the hay, and do what needs to be done so farm families can take time […]
Keep Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’

Head ‘em up and move ‘em out, Farm Rescue is rolling down the harvest trail. Sunshine and some not-so-gentle breezes have kept our Angels in Blue company this week as they’ve been harvesting soybeans and corn in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, and Iowa. A farm family in Enderlin, North Dakota, were facing […]
Busy Bees

The Farm Rescue hive has been abuzz with harvest activities this week. Alden, Iowa, was the site of a recent one-day harvest bee. Friends, neighbors, and Farm Rescue joined forces to help a family in crisis. A Garner, Iowa, farmer is recovering from surgery and facing a long road to recovery. Farm Rescue volunteers are […]
To Everything There is A Season

The flies and mosquitos have almost been banished by the chill of fall. I say almost because we’re still seeing 90-degree afternoons where I live. That hasn’t stopped me from dreaming of the crunch of dried leaves underfoot and pumpkins on the porch though. Fall harvest has reached many farmers and Farm Rescue’s Angels in […]
