Merry Christmas from Farm Rescue

North Dakota has been getting snow for over a month now but one harvest case and one hay hauling case did go on in December.

A Garnett, Kansas, farmer needed to be hospitalized for a long-term illness. Farm Rescue was able to get harvest duties squared away so the farmer and his family could concentrate on his treatment.

A Dunseith, North Dakota, rancher had his hay supply for the year destroyed by wildfire. Weather conditions have held the operation up at one point but some hay has been delivered and more will be delivered soon.

A huge holiday thank you goes out to our dedicated Angels in Blue David Endorf and Tom Richards.

As the temperatures dropped, traditional holiday stories and songs started running through my mind. Below is the result of that short jog. Dan Erdmann applied his wondrous talents and produced a video that brought my words to life. It is now available on Farm Rescue’s YouTube channel.

Sincerely,

‘Twas Christmas at Farm Rescue

The tractors and combines were snug in their sheds,

With visions of mile-long fields in their heads.

The planters and seeders were carefully stored away,

Waiting for warmer weather and fertile fields one fine day.

The Farm Rescue crew was still but their minds were abuzz,

For they knew farmers were still working for all that it was.

The volunteers were rejoicing at the time they had spent,

In the fields, on the road, and all the places they went.

As the snow flies and the wind blows so cold,

Dan toils in his workshop making sure the stories are all told.

On Nate! On Luke! On Ben! On both Stephs!

On Tim! On Genita! On Terry! Who’ve I got left?

There’s our partners, of course, so generous and kind,

Their support means the world to us and eases our minds.

That we can be there for the farmers and ranchers in dire straits,

When the crops and the cattle simply can’t wait.

We best not forget Bill as he flies the sky so blue,

He’s why we can make farm families’ wishes come true.

Merry Christmas from all of us at Farm Rescue!
