Farm Rescue begins planting operations in western North Dakota.

 

JAMESTOWN, N.D., — Farm Rescue, a nonprofit organization founded to help family farmers in crisis, announced today that 10 farmers in North Dakota were selected to receive free planting assistance this spring.  Eight received firm commitments, while two additional farmers received conditional approval based on available funding.

 

All sponsors of Farm Rescue, news media personnel and the general public are invited to attend two separate Farm Rescue Media Events to ask questions and wish Farm Rescue volunteers well in their effort to help family farmers who have experienced major crises.

 

The first Farm Rescue Event will be in Jamestown at the Wal-Mart parking lot on April 10th from 11:00AM to 1:00PM (Central Time).  “Farm Rescue has experienced great community support in Jamestown and we invite all interested parties to participate in a group photo to show their support for family farmers,” said Bill Gross, Farm Rescue Founder.

 

The second Farm Rescue Event will be on April 12 at 11:00AM (Mountain Time) on the Matt Biel Farm 14 miles south of Dickinson.  This event will include Farm Rescue volunteers and equipment in action during the official start of the 2006 Farm Rescue program.  Two other Farm Rescue recipient families will be present at this event. They live in the area and are scheduled to receive Farm Rescue assistance due to major medical crises.

 

Directions to the Matt Biel Farm: Take I-94 to the Gladestone/Lefor exit. Travel 14 miles south on paved road. Turn right on gravel road north of Lefor and travel 4 miles west. Turn south at intersection and travel 1 1/4 miles south, the event location will be on the right in a field near the Biel family farm.  For additional information, please visit the Farm Rescue website at www.farmrescue.org or call (701) 526-0947.

 

Changes in the event may occur due to severe weather, any changes to the schedule or activities will be posted at www.farmrescue.org no later than 5:00AM (Mountain Time) on April 12th.

Farm Rescue is a nonprofit organization that helps family farmers bridge crises so they may have an opportunity to continue viable operations. Farm Rescue's mission is to provide assistance to farm families that have experienced a major illness, injury or an act of nature that has caused undue financial hardship. Farmers who qualify for assistance from Farm Rescue will be eligible to have up to 1,000 acres of their agricultural land planted free of charge.
